Helena Bogucki

Perth, Western Australia, Australia

Helena works from her studio at the Midland Atelier, a recently established multi-disciplinary creative hub located between the Perth CBD and the Swan Valley. She established her contemporary jewellery practice shortly after completing a Bachelor of Arts (Visual) Honours at Edith Cowan University. Helena also actively works in remote communities in Western Australia. She is currently mentoring a senior Magna elder from the Gascoyne region (the north west coast), sharing her design knowledge in a community development capacity.

Helena’s designs are inspired by her surroundings and the history and social histories that these surroundings hold. Be it an investigation into historical embroideries or keepsakes, or a response to the customs and aesthetics she sees during time spent in foreign lands, Helena’s pieces bring to light the details made for discerning eyes that exist within these surrounds. Her creations combine formed and found pieces, often reflecting a passing moment or time, of personal or historical significance.
