Leslie has been a practising jeweller and object maker for 25 years. Throughout her career she has participated in local, national and international exhibitions, having exhibited in solo shows across the country and group shows in Europe, Asia and North America. Leslie holds a Bachelor of Design (Jewellery and Metalsmithing) and a Master of Visual Arts (Research) from the University of South Australia and works from her independent studio at the JamFactory in Adelaide.
When developing new work Leslie’s creative methods are often intuitive as well as systematic. The imagery referenced in the creation of her contemporary jewellery relates to anatomical structures as well as the flora and fauna that surround her environment. As a maker, her interest lies not only with the conceptual development of the work but also with the materials she uses and the physical process of making of the forms. Leslie’s knowledge of traditional Japanese engraving and Japanese repoussé can be seen in the fine details of her pieces.
