Kimba completed an Advanced Diploma in Engineering Technology (Jewellery) at NMIT. Her work is strongly influenced by the ‘golden ratio’: the proportions and design language from which the universe was created. These patterns and geometry are found everywhere, from the most miniscule particles to the wider cosmos.
Kimba’s work often features geometric and three dimensional forms and patterns. She believes that certain symbols, shapes and materials are imbued with energies and mystical properties. Her work explores the ancient tradition of adorning oneself in ritual talismans to protect from illness, ward off evil or convey blessings.
During the design process, Kimba strives to find a balance between her desires for complexity and elegant simplicity, manifested and constructed through both modern technologies and the essential connection of working with materials by hand.
