Covert Jewels by Cinnamon Lee
Cinnamon Lee’s work combines digital manufacturing and precious metal casting techniques to push the boundaries of metal fabrication beyond their conventional limitations. Covert Jewels presents a unique amalgamation of Lee’s jewellery and lighting design practices.
“This work pays tribute to the value of discretion,” says Lee. “It focuses on the intimate relationships that can exist between object and wearer, rather than onlooker. These rings have been designed to appear externally unassuming, but tactile patterns emerge from within to ornament only their interior surfaces, primarily for the wearer’s enjoyment.”
By investigating digital design processes, Cinnamon creates works that both reveal and conceal. This examination of the intimate nature of wearable objects questions the way in which jewellery has the capacity to move us and become a part of our lives.
