Sterling silver, 18ct yellow gold
When Courtney Jackson was younger, her father told her to ‘head for the towers,’ should she ever become lost, referring to the three television towers that guarded over her childhood home in the Dandenong Ranges. As an adult living in Adelaide, the artist found these structures quietly developing in everything she made. Idle sketches laced with delicate, architectural lines and jewellery shaping into spindly, wire structures. The ‘Winter Bones’ pin is an object that captures a trace of that sanctuary, so that you can always find your way home.
This piece was made for the 2017 exhibition ‘Talismans for Travel’, as part of Radiant Pavilion.
