Katherine Bowman
Katherine Bowman’s work is strongly influenced by both nature and the history of art. She has a particular interest in how we imbue an object with meaning and the consequent relationship the object has with the body it adorns. Katherine’s first degree was a Bachelor of Arts with a Double Major in Fine Art History from the University of Melbourne from 1988 -1991. She then completed a degree with Honours in Gold and Silversmithing at RMIT in 2001. In 2002, Katherine received an Australian Post Graduate Award and completed a Master of Arts through RMIT.
Katherine was a founding member of Northcity4, an artist-run initiative that supports the Australian contemporary jewellery community by providing workshop space and education programs.
Katherine has taught at RMIT since 2007 in the Gold and Silversmithing department, within the School of Art.
