How to Buy Jewellery Online
Shopping online involves a certain leap of faith. How a piece of jewellery moves on the body is integral to how we wear it. Whether you’re interstate, overseas, or you just prefer shopping from your couch, we’ve put some tools and tips together to make it easy to choose something beautiful from our website.
If you know what you’re looking for, you can narrow the options down by style, material, colour or budget. In the e.g.etal online Store, use the filters in the left sidebar (or the top menu on mobile) to navigate. Looking for a silver necklace with a blue stone for under $500? In a few clicks, you’ll see everything that fits the bill.
Browse by artist
If you’ve visited us in person, you’ll know that each artist’s work is presented as a collection. You can replicate this experience online by clicking ‘Artists’ and browsing our 60+ talented designers. From there, you’ll be able to read about their practice and see their work.
Search by availability
Our site features pieces available to buy now, as well as made-to-order items. If you need a piece right away, click ‘Filter by availability’ and choose ‘Ready to Ship’.
If you have a little more time, you can choose a ‘Pre-order’ item which will be handmade just for you in approximately 4-6 weeks.
We also keep archival pieces on our website after they have sold, as most of these can be replicated and custom made. These pieces don’t have prices listed, as the cost varies depending on materials and size, but you can click ‘Enquire’ to request a quote.
Once you’ve found something you like, you’ll want an idea of how it will look on the body. Most earrings will feature a silhouette photo to help you visualise scale, along with dimensions.
Rings will have multiple photos from different angles, and sometimes a video of the piece being worn, if available.
For necklaces, we try to always specify the chain length and pendant size. Check out the chart below as a guide for where different necklace lengths will sit on the body.
Ask for help
Even though you’re buying online, there are real people behind the scenes – and we’re here to help! Click the ‘Enquire’ button on any product to ask about a piece or to request images of it being worn. Our staff are quick as lighting on email. You can also call anytime during opening hours, or make an appointment for a chat and a viewing over Zoom.
Please never be shy about asking questions. We understand that jewellery is a special purchase, and want to make sure you have every opportunity to consider all the details.
About ring sizing
You might be wondering why we don’t list sizes for our rings online. This is because sizing isn’t an exact science – rings that measure the same size may fit differently due to the width, shape and texture. If you’d like to know the size of a ring in stock, please ask so we can explain any particulars of the piece.
If you’re not sure what size you are, we can post out a free ring sizing tool or you can visit a local jeweller to be sized.
Buying sight-unseen can feel risky, so we offer a special extended return policy for online purchases. You have 21 days to return or exchange the item.
We also send all parcels by Express Post with signature on delivery, ensuring your item will reach you safely, as fast as possible.
Every item is sent gift wrapped, with information about the artist and an exchange card (without pricing). We can also include a handwritten card with a personal message – you’ll see this option at checkout.
If you can’t decide on a gift, you can always buy a voucher online. We can post out a beautifully presented gift voucher or if time is of the essence, we can email a digital eVoucher direct to you or the recipient.
