Justine Austen
Justine Austen has a desire to make, with fingers that itch when away from the bench for too long. Using space as a raw material she looks for ways to capture and define it using metal. It is this portable personal space captured and carried, curiously wearable that can contain so much more – a memory, a love, a moment in time – that pushes Justine to on to the next creation.
Justine completed a Bachelor of Gold and Silversmithing at Monash University, a Master of Fine Art at RMIT and has studied with the Gemmological Association of Australia. She has worked for a number of respected Australian contemporary jewellers, refining her skills. Justine has exhibited in both solo and group shows nationally and works from her studio in the Melbourne CBD.
