Virginia Sprague
Virginia Sprague is an Australian contemporary art jeweller based in Bangkok. Her practice explores the interdependencies between people and the environments they inhabit through an intuitive, materially driven process in which meaning emerges through making. Using traditional metalsmithing techniques, she creates jewellery that exists between natural and constructed forms, inviting reflection on environmental vulnerability, material value, and the stories embedded within objects. Her work reimagines adornment as a quiet act of connection, encouraging a more attentive relationship with place, identity and the natural world.
Virginia has exhibited internationally in the United States, including New York Jewellery Week, and across Europe through Tincal Lab. Her work was selected for publication in SNAG Metalsmith magazine and has been exhibited extensively throughout Australia, including the Contemporary Wearables Biennial Jewellery Award & Exhibition and the Australian Design Centre’s Profile exhibition, where she received a Highly Commended award, alongside exhibitions with independent studios and galleries.
