creatures and other curios new adventures in lace by Joanna Campbell
Joanna Campbell has always had a fascination with lace and all things haberdashery. She’s an old fashioned girl! She collects it, she makes it, she embosses it on to metal. Some of the lace she uses is so old that it is literally falling apart. By embossing it into a more permanent material she records the character of the lace for a few more years.
Joanna has recently made an exquisite new body of work-rings, bangles and necklaces in silver with gold plating. Each piece incorporates the time honoured traditions and patterns of lacemaking with contemporary jewellery design.
The installation will be on display in the gallery from June 2nd to June 29th, 2014.
