The OBSCURO collection explores notions of concealment and hidden value through the use of positive and negative space to create a system of three-dimensional veils. Each of these structures is designed to obscure one’s view of what lies beneath the surface. Uniformly placed, thin parallel slats conceal tiny windows that are revealed to the viewer only at certain angles, encouraging a sense of intrigue, while at the same time retaining a sense of secrecy for the wearer. Archetypal symbols such as the heart, the saltire (diagonal cross), and the lemniscate (figure eight/infinity) are hidden within, providing emblems for commemoration, for celebration and for contemplation.
