Artist Talk: Carl Noonan
Join us during Melbourne Design Week for an evening with contemporary jewellery artist Carl Noonan.
Beginning with a laser-cut titanium skeleton, Carl pours molten gold into the framework of a ring. The gold formation is filed back to reveal the metal’s unpredictable transition into negative space.
In a one off event, Carl joins us from Tasmania to explain his innovative technique, in conversation with e.g.etal director, Emma Goodsir. He will show work in progress charting the creation of a ring from start to finish. Carl will also launch his new ring collection: ‘Growth’; designs based on the growth rings of trees.
“Each of Carl’s rings is a unique experiment based on conceptual rigour and technical prowess. Truly collector pieces.” – Emma Goodsir
